Lords & Life: Honesty and Leadership

Opinion piece aka T waxes philosophically. I believe in brutal honestly. I often say that I will not talk behind your back; I'll just say the uncomfortable stuff to your front. But it's a fine line. Many use honesty as a tool to hurt people yet still feel morally superior because they're "just telling the truth". Not cool, bro. Additionally, this approach inspires some and defeats others. Trust your intuition as to who you can be savagly honest with and who needs kid gloves. If you've never done it before with someone, test the waters. Not everyone finds the harsh truth helpful. But for those who do, continue reading for an example of T's Tough Love. Something to keep in mind is that text is a very dangerous form of communication. It can sometimes be the most effective because you have time to carefully compose exactly what you want to say, but the drawback is that you have zero body language for clues. You have zero inflection in your voice to i

Special Monster: Phantom Knight

The Phantom Knight is part of special IGG events, so to keep an eye on Events for when it will be available. The event typically lasts 2-3 days. During the event, a specific number of these monsters will appear in each Kingdom (the news notice will usually say exactly how many). They typically appear every 3 hours at the same time as the regular monsters - check the Solo Event timer. Then check global chat. Often the coordinates of each Phantom Knight get shared as they are discovered. However, if you discover one, don't share it in global! Keep it for yourself and your guild for as long as possible. They are VERY strong, but drop very good loot. It is a great way to get Research Speed Ups and Holy Stars. If that's your goal, they are worth the energy and it is recommended to save energy and use it during this event. (If you're looking for monster materials, relocators, or shields, your energy is better spent on regular monsters.) When hunting the Phantom Kn

Guild Gifts

Guild gifts are awesome. Everyone gets loot immediately and you can level up to get better loot. How Do You Get Guild Gifts? There are a few different ways. The most common are by hunting monsters and purchasing packs from the mall. You can also get special guild gifts from events. Guild Bash, KvK, and Lords Ball all send guild gifts for achieving a goal. How Do They Work? Just do the thing and get the box: kill the monster, buy the pack, do the event. Voila - gift box. Simple as that. Every time a gift is earned, everyone in the whole guild gets the gift. The keys are collected when each member opens the gift. 10 level 1 monsters? 10 keys. 90 members? 900 keys - assuming everyone opens them in time. While everyone gets the same box on the outside, the loot inside is different for each member. The different grade (color) boxes offer a different selection of random loot. The higher the grade, the better the loot selection. So each day, everyone will get the same number

Lords & Life: Change

Opinion piece aka T waxes philosophically. Change Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher, has been quoted as saying “change is the only constant in life.” It's true. In Lords as in Life, things will change. IGG will release new updates. Guilds will merge and dissolve. People will switch guilds. R5s & R4s will be promoted and demoted. You will migrate to a new Kingdom. Guilds will migrate to your Kingdom. People will drift in and out of your gaming world. It's going to happen. It just is. Period. So don't get all dramatic when stuff changes. It was inevitable. No one in their right mind loves big changes. If they say they do, they're lying either to themselves or to you. If they're not lying, please contact me with the name of the pharmaceutical company they're doing testing for so I can buy stock early. Change is hard. Change can be scary. Change can just plain suck. Even when it's a good change, the newness of it all and the excitement can be emotional
